so great to discover this little gem in north beach! I'll be back---great wine & workers. only wished I lived closer!

Was in town the other day and happened upon this place by chance.. I don't remember what was here before.. maybe a hardware store? they sharpened knives I think .. at any rate, this place was new to me and I wanted to do something nice for my lady so I decided to check it out.. My lady doesn't drink but she does enjoy these types of small plates and the bread, cheese and smoked mussels or whatever she got she enjoyed. The atmosphere was nice.. it was really busy, we were going to sit in the parquet outside but she noticed people were upstairs. we checked it out.. big communal table type of deal ..we are fairly social and didn't mind sitting with others. Anyways, good place. Small, but fun. SF needs more businesses like this imo .. check it out

Great vibes and delicious wine offerings. However-- they marked up some of the tinned fish by more than $10 retail. :( FOOD [5/5] ========= We ordered a white wine, the moscato, a mocktail, and 3 types of tinned fish. All the tinned fish were AMAZING. SERVICE [3.5/5] ============ I hate to say it but honestly the bartender was pretty unpleasant (no manners, no extra service, seemed pretty annoyed even though we tried smiling at him and saying basic things like "please" and "thank you"). The waiter who brought out our food service with the board and complimentary bread was much more kind!

AMAZING experience! The ambiance at Golden Sardine is fantastic - it's small, cozy, almost European wine bar feeling. The wines themselves are interesting and I loved the skin contact wine I tried. We went Friday at 6, which was when there was a poetry reading (they do First Fridays readings on the second floor) and the poets were outstanding. Golden sardine also sells wine and poetry so you can pick up a bottle & book to go! Will absolutely be back!

Intimate, charming, alluring - so many good words can be used to describe this spot. Golden Sardine is relatively new and already making waves despite being down the street from one of SF's most sought after wine bars - Bodega. Golden Sardine is a little more relaxed and rustic than most, which is why I enjoy it. You can find poetry and art lining the walls as you sip on unique wine and chat with the staff, many of whom are locals. This place gets pretty busy though and isn't huge space-wise so I'd recommend this spot for groups of 1-4 interested in catching up over some great wine and good music / ambiance.

Charming and very cute; perfect for an intimate date-night or a catch-up convo with a friend. Really appreciated the diversity in their wine list, as well as the workers who are more than happy and friendly and excited to share their recommendations if you're feeling lost and intimidated by all your options! They're very knowledgeable and down to earth, and helped guide me to a glass of wine that I am still thinking about a week later. There's 2 floors--first floor seemed very busy, but top floor had some seating when I came in around 9pm on a Fri night.

What a charming wine bar! My friend and I arrived at 5 pm on Friday and snagged the last two seats by the window. It can fill up quickly so I recommend getting here earlier.
